Enshrouded 1.0 Review: Was the Wait Worth It?

Enshrouded spent a long time in Early Access, and the 1.0 launch on October 15, 2026 finally closes that chapter. It’s a survival crafting game with RPG combat and a big, handcrafted map, and it’s very easy to see why people stuck with it.

You play as the Flameborn, exploring Embervale, gathering resources, building a base and fighting your way through dangerous areas. The first hours are friendly, and the survival side isn’t overly punishing. Up to 16 players can team up, which makes it a good co-op pick.

What works is how well the systems fit together. Building feels flexible, the world is dense instead of empty, and combat is better in 1.0. At least one reviewer also liked the new voice acting and the sense that the developers keep polishing the details.

How it runs: I couldn’t find solid performance numbers for the 1.0 build. The developer listed performance improvements as part of the 1.0 plan, so check recent benchmarks for your hardware before buying. It’s on PC and PS5, with Xbox planned for spring 2027.

Downsides: a few outlets called the story forgettable, and some mechanics are still a bit unclear. It’s also a big commitment, and survival crafting isn’t for everyone.

But honestly, that’s not really the point.

The point is the loop of building, exploring and getting stronger with friends. That’s where Enshrouded shines.

Verdict: Worth it for fans of survival crafting, especially in co-op. Check performance info for your own PC first.
